Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation
In partnership with Triangle Physicians for Women, Cary Med Spa & Wellness offers laser vaginal rejuvenation with Cynosure’s Mona Lisa Touch. Treatment with the vaginal rejuvenation laser may be suitable for women interested in diminishing the side effects that persist during and after menopause.
As menopause onsets, women experience hormonal changes, one of them being a drop in estrogen. Decreased estrogen levels result in thinning of the mucosa, or the layer lining the vaginal walls. This is often accompanied by vaginal dryness, itching, and burning.
The laser emits CO2 energy which may help to stimulate collagen production in the vaginal wall, which may also thicken the mucosal layer while restoring moisturization and elasticity. The Monalisa Touch laser therapy may provide an alternate solution to estrogen therapy.
Individual results may vary.
How many treatments are required?
Typically, a package of three sessions is recommended for patients. Women who have undergone the treatment have expressed improvement in symptoms after their first treatment, however studies have shown that the magnitude of improvement has been correlated with the number of sessions undergone. Furthermore, it is recommended that patients undergo treatment annually for maintenance purposes. *individual results may vary.
What does the procedure entail?
One of the greatest advantages of the Monalisa Touch is the convenience. A probe is inserted vaginally delivering the energy, taking less than five minutes! It requires no anesthesia or downtime, and patients express that they experience little to no discomfort. *individual results may vary.
How long does the recovery process take?
There is no downtime following treatment with the Monalisa Touch. However, it is advised that patients abstain from sexual activity for 2-3 days. *individual results may vary.
How much does vaginal laser therapy cost? Is it covered by insurance?
The cost of treatment varies depending upon the number of sessions purchased as package pricing is available. Unfortunately, the procedure is not covered by insurance at this time. However, we do accept Care Credit.
