Side Effects of IPL
IPL is a nonsurgical, noninvasive treatment for vascular lesions, unwanted hair, acne and pigmented lesion. Potential side effects include swelling, redness and flushing. But they are typically minor and may resolve within a few hours or days after treatment.
Long term side effects are rare but can include scarring and pigmentation changes.
The key to successful treatment is fully disclosing your medications and medical history. You may not be a good candidate for these treatments if you are pregnant, have skin cancer or open lesions and form keloid scars.
IPL treatments target the deep skin layers and because it is so gentle, it can be used in combination with other superficial treatments like chemical peels.
