Hormone Therapy for Women
A common misconception is that testosterone is just a male hormone. But women have and need testosterone too. If you are suffering from hot flashes, vaginal dryness, lack of sex drive, and severe mood swings, you may have a low testosterone level. Many women who have low testosterone say they have lost all sexual desires and are so “emotional” that they cry at the drop of a hat. If you can relate to these symptoms, you might be a candidate for hormone replacement.
Here at Cary Med Spa & Wellness, our physician led staff specializes in treating low testosterone, which may help you regain your sex drive and to feel like yourself again.
Testosterone in Women
Men produce 10 times more testosterone than women, but in their early reproductive years women have 10 times more testosterone than estrogen coursing through their bodies. Many experts now believe that it’s the loss of testosterone, and not estrogen, that causes women in midlife to gain weight, feel fatigue and lose mental focus, bone density and muscle tone — as well as their libido.
Signs and Symptoms of Low T
There are several wide-ranging signs and symptoms of low testosterone in women. You may experience some more than others.
Hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia
Lack of sex drive
Aches and pains
Poor memory and concentration
Moodiness or depression
Testosterone Pellets might be able to help
Our physician led team here at Cary Med Spa and Wellness has the expertise to treat our patients with low testosterone by offering Testosterone pellets. These pellets may help restore testosterone levels in women for 3 to 5 months.
Testosterone pellets may be an ideal testosterone replacement therapy. The pellets are fused into very small solid cylinders. They are smaller than the width of a dime. Testsoterone pellets are implanted under the skin and slowly release testosterone.

Implanting Testosterone Pellets
As a fertility doctor specializing in reproductive endocrinology, Dr. Sameh Toma has advanced training to address hormonal function as it pertains to reproduction as well as the issue of infertility. Dr Toma customizes the best hormonal therapy for each individual patient. This tailored treatment plan starts with a series of tests including lab and blood work. Dr. Toma will then determine the best line of hormone therapy for you. Implanting the Testosterone pellets is done as an in-office procedure here at Cary Med Spa and Wellness. It will take less than 15 minutes. You simply lay on your side as an anesthetic is injected under the skin in your buttocks area. A tiny incision is made (about 3 mm) and an instrument is used to place the pellet under the skin.
The Benefits of Testosterone Pellets
Testosterone Pellets has become a popular choice, because they may provide sustained hormone levels throughout the day for up to 5 months in women. Some studies have been shown that pellets can be effective for relief of menopausal symptoms, maintenance of bone density, restoration of sleep patterns, and improvement in sex drive, sexual response and performance, relief of depression, anxiety, irritability, and mood swings. Pellet implants have also been used to treat migraine and menstrual headaches. Many patients who have tried oral forms of testosterone therapy or patches have complained of a fluctuation of hormone levels, causing mood swings and energy fluctuations.
