The Treatment

After your and your doctor select the area(s) to be treated, a gel pad will be positioned on your body in the selected area(s). Then an applicator will be applied to the targeted area(s), and controlled cooling will begin to freeze the targeted area. The applicator uses vacuum to suck up the tissue, so you may feel some tugging and/or pinching during the procedure. Initially you will feel a strong sensation of cold. This will disappear in 5-10 minutes, when the area(s) become numb.

After treatment, the treated areas will be massaged to attempt to reduce the lumps.

You may experience tingling in the treated areas for a few minutes. Common side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, stinging and pain. Most patients have no pain after CoolSculpting, but a few days after the treatment you may experience some pain and/or tenderness which should resolve quickly. About 10-15% of patients may experience moderate to severe pain while the nerves regenerate, which can last up to 2 weeks. *individual results may vary.

CoolSculpting is essentially a nonsurgical alternative to liposuction. Each treatment lasts about one hour per treated area. Coolsculpted areas are not resistant to post-procedural weight gain, as remaining fat cells can still expand.

If you are healthy, eat well and exercise and are within 20 pounds of your ideal weight this noninvasive treatment may be able to help. *individual results may vary.
